For IMMEDIATE RELEASE
BALTIMORE, Md. (March 22, 2021) - The Indie Maker Syndicate (IMS) will host "Makers Play," a three day online virtual event March 26-28, 2021. "Makers Play" will showcase an international curated group of more than forty independent game developers ("indies") who have built video games for PCs, mobile devices, classic gaming consoles, and vintage arcade-machine cabinets. The event will also feature live demonstrations from experts in 3D printing. "Makers Play" is a grassroots, sponsorship-free, live and virtual event, and can be viewed on the Twitch streaming service.
The event starts the evening of Friday, March 26 and will run for roughly 8 hours each day through Sunday, March 28. Admission is free. Donations are accepted throughout the event with all proceeds going directly to the Childs Play Charity. Many of the video games showcased are new or unreleased, targeting a variety of different platforms including PC and Mac computers, and artisan arcade machines, as well as new games made for console gaming systems of the 80s and 90s such as the Atari 2600 and original Nintendo Entertainment System (NES).
"Makers Play" will also feature a panel with educators and game industry experts, and will include segments specializing on homemade 3D "maker" technologies and unique game creations from developers around the globe.
During the event the IMS has established a gathering place for questions, feedback, and direct communication with the indies through a Discord message server and a Virtual 3D space in the "VR Chat" application.
About The Indie Maker Syndicate The IMS is a volunteer-based organization, formed in January 2021 by an experienced group of creators with backgrounds in promoting independent games and maker-based projects. The IMS focuses on events that promote independent game creation, hosting "game jams" that challenge participants to make a themed game in a limited time, and amplifying messaging from independent creators.
